Sensitive Determination of Honokiol Using Acetylene Black Film-Modified Electrode

In the presence of dihexadecyl hydrogen phosphate, acetylene black (AB) was dispersed into water, then an AB film-modified electrode was achieved. The electrochemical behavior of honokiol was investigated. Due to a large surface area, strong adsorption ability, and numerous micropores, the AB film-modified electrode greatly increases the electrochemical oxidation signal of honokiol. Based on this, a sensitive, rapid, and simple electrochemical method was developed for honokiol. The linear range is from 5.0 X 10 -8 to 2.0 X 10 -5 mol L -1 , and the limit of detection is 8.0 X 10 -9 mol L -1 . Finally, this method was employed to determine honokiol in Chinese medicines.
