Psychoacoustic abilities of CI users in relation to speech understanding and localization in a reverberant room

Over recent years we tested speech understanding an d localization abilities of bilateral CI users with a n extensive test battery [1, 2]. Figure 1, top panel, shows res ults of the speech test for seven bilateral CI users. Speech re eption thresholds (SRTs) with speech and noise presented f rom the front were measured in the free-field. SRTs were be twe n 0 and +6 dB, i.e. performance differed despite all pa rticipants using the same cochlear implant (CI) devices.
