The collective subject that speaks

This paper discusses the Discourse of the Collectiv e Subject as a qualitative-quantitative proposal for opinion polli ng or research on social representations. The authors propose the presentati on of collective opinion in research as an empirical variable of qua litative and quantitative nature. This is achieved by introducing a subject o f discourse, who is individual and collective at the same time. This em powers the speaker to express him or herself directly, without the interv ention of the researcher’s meta-discourse and avoids converting o pinion in a mere quantitative variable, mutilating its essentially d iscursive nature.
