Investigation of PVM for the emulation and simulation of a distributed CIM workflow system

Parallel Virtual Machine (PVM) software provides a distributed computing environment in which users can run different software processes in different computers while allowing communication among the processes. It was originally developed for parallel computing, but is also has the potential to apply to the emulation and simulation of distributed multiagent systems. The objective of this paper is to apply the PVM software for emulating and simulating a distributed CIM workflow system, thereby evaluating the performance of the design factors of the CIM workflow system.
