Surface pressure spectra on a model of the Silsoe structures building and comparison with full-scale

Abstract The wind tunnel research presented in this paper was conducted at Surrey University as part of an AFRC linked research group with Silsoe Research Institute. The aim of the project was to investigate the effect of wind tunnel simulations on the surface pressures measured on low rise buildings The full-scale data, used as a benchmark for comparisons, were taken at the Silsoe Research Institute. This paper presents model and full-scale surface pressure spectra and approach flow spectra. Comparisons are made between model and full-scale for the approach flow and at two tapping positions and differences are identified which may be linked to the discrepancies seen in previous mean pressure comparisons. Details of the development and survey of the 1:100 scale rural rapid simulation used in this paper were given as a poster at the 1992 WES Conference at Cambridge.
