Enhancing the Class Curriculum with Virtual World Use Cases for Production and Logistics

Virtual worlds can be used to spice up classes in the field of production and logistics at the University of Hamburg. Instead of presenting slides in a classroom, the classroom is taken into a virtual world – here Second Life – to visit several companies. In addition, the companies were chosen in a way, that each of them is unique in how they present themselves and how they transport the internal production process. The use cases show a new form of building and presenting learning material, i.e. with respect to interactivity and immersion.
