A parallel approach for optimal power flow with transient stability constraints

Based on the Optimal Power Flow with Transient Stability Constraints (OTS) model, this paper presents a parallel method to solving the shortcoming of current method on large calculation. Meanwhile, according to the swing curves of generator rotor and the characteristics of transient stability analysis, a simple and credible criteria to determine transient stability is proposed. The parallel method improved the accuracy and calculation speed of the stability assessment. Numerical results on three test systems, the NE-39 system, the IEEE 300-bus system and 703-bus systems, show that the OTS model based on parallel computation is effective in reducing the computing time.
