A Video Compression Method using Block Information

Recently, computer network infrastructure is commonplace and internet user increase. Transmission bandwidth for network traffic is increasing and the type is varied such as realtime video. Video traffic occupies much volume among Internet backbone traffic, transmission bandwidth and quality of service (QoS) of other network application such as web, email cannot be guaranteed. In this paper, we propose a block information-based video compression method. The proposed method uses scenes, memorial/non-memorial blocks, and SIFT parameters as compression structure, compression units, and a compression method, respectively. This electronic document is a “live” template. Experimental results showed that the proposed method has better performance than H.264/AVC main profile in objective quality, compression ratio.
