Fuzzy Control Scheme of Virtual Inertia for Synchronverter in Micro-Grid

Synchronverter is a control scheme applied to the inverters of distributed generating units (DGs). This control scheme can support the frequency and voltage stability of the power system by mimicking the behavior of a synchronous generator (SG). Unlike a physical SG, the inertia and damping coefficient of the synchronverter can be controlled in real time to enhance the fast response in tracking the steady-state frequency. Based on the above concept, a fuzzy control scheme of virtual inertia for synchronverter is proposed. And the influence of inertia on the output characteristics of the synchronverter is analyzed. Then the fuzzy rules are determined according to the virtual angular speed deviation and its rate of change. So the virtual inertia can be selected according to the actual operating conditions. Meanwhile, it can ensure the stable operation and safety of microgrid systems. Simulation is given to verify the idea.
