In this study, we deal with a wireless resource allocation problem for the LTE(Long Term Evolution) uplink, which uses SC-FDMA(Single Carrier-Frequency Division Multiple Access) rather than OFDMA(Orthogonal FDMA) applied for the down link. SC-FDMA has similar structure on its wireless resource usage with OFDMA, but has a unique characteristic that only consecutive RBs(Radio Bearers) can be assigned to a mobile when multiple RBs are required. We formulate the resource allocation problem for the SC-FDMA system into a mathematical form, which is shown to be similar with the interval scheduling problem. And we prove that the problem is NP-complete by reduction from/to the interval scheduling problem. Followed by some properties of the optimal solution for the problem with a simple example.
