Summary The development of adjuvant-induced arthritis was studied in four strains of rats. Using injected and noninjected hind foot volumes and a secondary lesion scoring system as parameters of the disease, Holtzman rats were adjudged to develop the most and Buffalo rats the least severe arthritis of the four strains.
