Effects of a Top Management Faking Set on the Gordon Personal Inventory

Gordon (1953, 1956) has constructed two forced-choice instruments, the Gordon Personal Profile (GPP), and the Gordon Personal Inventory (GPI). The GPP has scales for Ascendancy, Responsibility, Emotional Stability, and Sociability, while the GPI has scales for Cautiousness, Original Thinking, Personal Relations, and Vigor. Both instruments yield a Total score, which indicates the extent to which the individual has selected complimentary rather than derogatory alternatives. Coladarci ( 1958, p. 203) cited investigations of the fakabiliry of the GPP by Rusmore (1956), and Gordon and Stapleton ( 1956), and concluded that ". . . this instrument is much less fakable than most of the available inventorytype tests." The aim of the present study was to investigate fakability of the GPI.
