European Association of Experimental Social Psychology

The European Association of Experimental Social Psychology, which meets the need for scientific exchange and co-ordination, arose as the result of two successful conferences of European social psychologists. These conferences, organized under the auspices of the Office of Naval Research and of the American Social Science Research Council (one at Sorrento in December, 1963; the other at Frascati in December, 1964), provided an opportunity for fruitful contact among several dozen specialists from various European countries 1. In order to ensure the continuity of such exchanges, a Planning Committee was elected at the close of the Frascati Conference. Under the presidency of S. Moscovici (Paris), it included G. Jahoda (Glasgow), M. Mulder (Utrecht), J. Nuttin, Jr. (Louvain) and H. Tajfel (Oxford). The Committee’s object was :
