Experimental studies on susceptibility of Thelazia callipaedato Amiota okadi in three provinces of China

Aim To confirm Amiota okadai as the intermediate host of Thelazia callipaeda in other parts of China as well as in Anhui province Method From 1998 to 1999,we investigated dogs infected in Hebei,Henan,and rural area of Anhui respectively and A okadai were captured The newborn larvae of T callipaeda from Hefei suburb were fed to the second generation of A okadai from three provinces and the susceptibility to A okadai was observed Result A okadai from three provinces on day 22,21,and 23 after infection were examined 2 positive in 45(4 44%)from Hebei,3 positive in 53(5 66%)from Henan,and 3 positive in 76(3 94)from Anhui were found No statistically significant difference(χ 2=0 19,P0 05)was noted among A okadai infected with T callipaeda from 3 provinces Conclusion A okadai from 3 areas have similar susceptibility to T callipaeda and are the intermediate host of T callipaeda in China
