Computer-assisted oral and intravenous theophylline therapy.

Abstract An interactive computer program was developed to assist clinicians in selecting appropriate intravenous and oral theophylline dosages. The program uses an iterative method to estimate pharmacokinetic parameters. This method was compared to methods previously described. Results of a clinical evaluation of the program suggest that the iterative computer program can substantially reduce the prediction error inherent in other methods of estimating theophylline requirements.
