On the PAPR Minimization Using Selected Mapping Algorithm in Pilot-Assisted OFDM Systems

A novel usage of pilot subcarriers in OFDM trasmission is proposed. Instead of applying reference data symbols for synchronization and channel estimation only, carefully selected codewords can be transmitted on the pilot subcarriers carring additional information about the selected vector mask when Selected Mapping (SLM) method used for PAPR minimization is applied. Thus, no additional side information is needed to be sent to the receiver in order to recover OFDM data blocks.
