Stochastic Assignment Models for Transit Low Frequency Services: Some Theoretical and Operative Aspects

In this paper the problem of assignment for low frequency transit services is dealt with in the framework of the stochastic approach, with random utility models of path choice and with “time-space” (diachronic) network models which explicitly consider timetables. In the first sections of the paper, user run choice models are considered and the problem of the demandsupply interaction is examined; subsequent sections present time-space network models, and in the final section some’ applications of this approach are described.
