Über Terpene, CXIX. Die Struktur des Cnicins, eines Sesquiterpen-Lactons aus Cnicus benedictus L†

Cnicin, ein Bitterstoff aus dem Benediktinerkraut (Cnicus benedictus L.), wurde kristallin erhalten und seine Struktur (X) bewiesen. Cnicin ist ein ungesattigtes Sesquiterpen-Dihydroxylacton vom Germacran-Typus, dessen eine Hydroxylgruppe durch den α.β-Bis-hydroxymethyl-acrylsaure-Rest esterifiziert ist. Da es gelang, Cnicin mit Arctiopicrin, dessen absolute Konfiguration bekannt ist, in Beziehung zu setzen, konnte der Beweis fur die absolute Konfiguration der meisten Zentren seiner Molekel erbracht werden.
