Stability analysis of Maya high side slope at Shuibuya hydropower station

The Maya high slope at the Shuibuya hydropower station, with its complicated geological structure, was the worst high slope in the dam site zone in means of its natural stability condition.A typical crosssection was selected in the shift zone between the front slope and the west slope.Three sides of the slope section were of air face, and its dangerous tock bodies and rock fissures due to unloading were extremely developed.2-D FEM and limit equilibrium method were used to calculate and analyze the deformation and stress states and the safety factors of the typical slope for three operating modes of natural condition, unloading by slope cutting and bank slope scouring due to flood release. The stability of the Maya high slope was evaluated for the natural condition and the additional load condition.
