Improvement of Cross Component Prediction by Multiple Liner Prediction for HEVC

Cross Component Prediction (CCP) is one of the coding tools introduced by the Range Extensions of HEVC (RExt), which uses the correlation between luma and chroma to improve the coding efficiency of the chroma component. In this paper, new two methods are proposed for CCP. First, an improved prediction weight which are calculated from adjacent pixels is proposed. Second, the prediction weight is divided to two weights by a proposed threshold. As the simulation result shows, the proposed method achieved 1.19% weighted BD-rate reduction on average by the proposed method compared with the standard CCP in HEVC.
