Prediction of silicon content in hot metal in blast furnaces

This paper presents work involving computer simulation for the prediction of silicon content in hot metal in blast furnaces. This scientific consultancy project involved extensive use of the knowledge of blast furnace processes, statistical analyses of data, computer programming and a critical analyses of results obtained. Simple mathematical functions were formulated to predict the silicon content with reasonable accuracy, well in advance. This advance knowledge helps in taking some suggested measures to alter the future silicon content (after a few casts) as desired.
