MICIS: a multimodal interface for a common information space

MICIS involves the design, implementation and evaluation of a multimodal interface for a common electronic information space. It is motivated by the need to make currently ongoing activities of interest within that space observable by its inhabitants through non-constrained WYSIWIS (What You See is What I See) views. Its underlying thread is a new general model of interaction mediation namely the Stimuli Transform Model that may be applied to exploit effectively both visual and auditory media in the design of such interfaces. This approach views problems of representation and event notification as being fundamentally associated with interaction mediation problems.
