Coccinellids and the Modern Pest Management

With the advancing progress of plant production, the need for protection against pests, diseases, and weeds increases constantly. Mixed and scattered farming has affected the ecosystem relatively little; there have been constant pressures against the pest in the environment and protective measures have in consequence been of less importance. Intensive crop production, however, involves concentration and specialization and has resulted in major changes of the original ecosystem; great acreages of monoculture are an ideal environment
