Proposta para o dimensionamento de vigas compostas de madeira maciça ligadas continuamente por pregos

The employment of built-up timber beams, composed by commercial dimensions pieces, is increasing importance in Brazil’s timber structures, mainly due to the ever-growing scarcity of timber elements in larger sizes. The structural behavior depends on factors as the connections rigidity, geometric parâmeters of the cross section, span, wood properties, besides the loading conditions. Therefore, it is evidend the need of use of special criteria for the correct design of the built-up beams. In relations to the subject, the Brazilian Code “Design of timber structures”, it presents a simplified design methodology of built-up elements, proposing coeficients for reduction of the inertia that consider the partial interection. The autors accomplished an extensive theoretical and experimental study of the built-up timber beams design criteria and, in this work, a proposal is presented for the design of built-up timber beams.
