Wellbeing and the Environment

This chapter provides an overview of the relationship between wellbeing and the environment. It reviews current thought on the critical aspects of the environment that affect our senses and thus our physical and psychological wellbeing. It reviews the major factors that affect us through our life course, as well as the aspects of neighborhoods, buildings, green spaces, transport, and finally future challenges in relation to the design of urban environments for our continued health and wellbeing.
