Experimental study of seam cutting with high pressure water jet for controlling rock burst

High pressure water jet was applied to cut the coal seam for controlling the rock burst,and KBD5 electromagnetic radiation detector to monitor the experiment.The results showed that the electromagnetic radiation intensity after cutting significantly decreased compared with the intensity before cutting,which means that the rock stress declines after cutting,and high pressure water jet cutting technology proves to be capable of reducing the possibility of rock burst so as to fundamentally control the rock burst;electromagnetic radiation intensity of deep region was obviously higher than the that of swallow region,which indicates that the seam cutting is most effective on releasing the stress in swallow coal seam;the occurrence of electromagnetic radiation intensity peak in deep region shows that the seam cutting results in the stress redistribution and the shift of stress concentration area towards deep region.
