A method for estimating the shape of towed array based on genetic algorithm

As the complexity of the ocean environment, shape of towed array changes with time and space, so the accurate measurement shape of towed array is the key to improve the performance of signal processing. To solve this problem this paper proposes an estimation method based on genetic algorithm, firstly, established the objective function according to a known distance and azimuth of the target by beam forming, then use genetic algorithm to optimize objective function and obtain the maximum power of output beam forming parameters, finally compare detection effect of the estimated array shape with linear array. Through numerical simulation, we can see the estimation of array shape relative to linear array can significantly improve the detection effect.
