Distribution of management over multi-domains network management systems

This paper presents an architecture and an organization of management systems that permit them to cooperate in order to provide an overall management. The structuration of management systems in several domains is essential in the communication world due to the diverse techniques used in each network and also by the heterogeneity of the policies of the organisations that own these networks. The approach described is based on the works undertaken by the OSI and CCITT organisations on network management and also on the ISO-ODP (Open Distributed Processing) concepts. Part of this work was undertaken within the ADVANCE project (Networks and Customers Administration Systems) of the CEC RACE I Program and continuing within the ICM (Integrated Communication Management) project of the CEC RACE II Program.<<ETX>>
