Thermal analysis of power cables in multi-layered soil. III. Case of two cables in a trench

For pt.II see PES 1992 Summer Meeting, Seattle, WA, Paper No. 92 SM366-7 PWRD. The heat dissipated from two cable-systems buried in a trench is calculated using the finite difference method. The method proposed in part I (see PES 1992 Summer Meeting, Seattle, WA, Paper No. 92 SM363-7 PWRD) of this research has been modified to accommodate two cables with different diameters and randomly located in the trench. Three different practical applications are considered, the first is to determine the effect of varying the cables' diameters on the heat dissipation and the second is about the effect of cables separation on the ampacity of the cable. The third is the effect of the cables laying with eccentricity on the total heat dissipation from the trench. >
