A Component framework for the configuration management of networks

Currently the approach of component-oriented software development is in discussion. It aims to the cost-effective construction of flexible applications from megamodules. We report on an application of this approach to the configuration management of networks. A corresponding component framework was developed and encouraging experiences from application developments and their operation were gathered. We describe the framework which in particular supports scalable, easily extensible, and resource saving management applications. Moreover, an example application is outlined.
