Some key technological issues in design of Goupitan Hydropower Station on Wujiang River

Goupitan Hydropower Station is the largest controlling project in cascade development of Wujiang River.For its complicated geological conditions and large scale in engineering design,some key and difficult issues existed such as arch dam design in complicated karst area,surrounding rock mass stability of large underground chamber,energy dissipation and frog prevention,seepage prevention works and comprehensive treatment for karst geological defects,as well as temperature control and crack prevention for arch dam.We give a detail introduction to design considerations according to the above key technological issues and construction procedures and treatment measures as well as practical effectiveness.Up to the end of 2009,all generator units were put into operation,realizing the goal of power generation in advance,thus its safe operation was verified with less engineering investment and better economic benefits.
