A Novel Antenna Selection Algorithm based on Capacity Maximization in Massive MIMO System

M-MIMO (Massive Multi-Input Multi-Output) is considered as a novel technology for 5G(the fifth generation of wireless communication system). On the one hand, due to the limited number of Radio Frequency(RF) chains, the number of antennas can't be infinite. On the other hand, the more the number of antennas, the higher the cost of hardware. In the case, efficient antenna selection technology has become a research hotspot. In this paper, a novel receiver antenna selection algorithm by combining maximum norm and relativity is proposed, which aims to tradeoff between performance and complexity. The computational complexity and the channel capacity of various antenna selection algorithms have been compared, simulation results show that the improved algorithm offers reduction in complexity while ensuring acceptable performance in terms of channel capacity. Simultaneously, it also studies the capacity of the M-MIMO system under correlated channels.
