Application of CTRON to communication networks

Abstract CTRON interfaces are designed for common application to network nodes, whether for switching, communications processing, or information processing, and are aimed at improved software portability. Specifications are now being developed by the CTRON Technical Committee under the TRON Association. CTRON interfaces feature realtime performance and fault tolerance. The specifications are non-proprietary, being offered to the public domain. Wide software portability is achieved by the twolayer interface configuration, and is further supported by a validation system for certifying that implementations conform to specifications. This paper details the design concepts and functional and configurational features, and reports on implementations to date.
