MULTIGRID SOLUTION OF NATURAL CONVECTION IN A VERTICAL SLOT

Numerical study of natural convection in a vertical cavity with end walls either insulated or conducting is reported. Multigrid methods were used to accelerate the convergence of the iterative solution of Ike steady-state form of the Boussinesq equations. Well-resolved solutions in the ends show how thermal conditions influence local Nusselt numbers. The numerically determined Nusselt numbers are compared with experiments and are shown to agree with them well.
