Planar and channel waveguides in fluoride glasses

Abstract Gradient index structures have been produced on the surface of fluoride glasses by anionic exchange processes. A description of the preparation of channel waveguides on ZBLA and BIG (Ba–In–Ga) fluoride glasses is presented. The guiding configuration has been determined by the m-lines method and a near-field measurement.
