Paper deals with utilization of CFD programs in mining, particularly the creation of an universal and easily customizable model of a rock environment. New supercomputing infrastructure at our VSB-Technical University of Ostrava Center of Excellence, IT for Innovation, provides possibility to create large 3D models of min environment. We can implement the supercomputing tools to study complex problems connected to gas flows in underground mines. We can give an example of simulation of a few degassing boreholes within rock environment model where it is possible to change the boundary conditions and to simulate various numbers of boreholes in the area. Based on this model we can easily find out the effective way how to degas the dangerous mine gas, methane, from the rock environment.
