The article reports on advances which have been made in research on meddies, gently spinning lenses of water that are essentially saltwater lakes which exist in the Atlantic Ocean. Researchers have found that a tool adapted from the oil industry can take rapid, high resolution photographs of the meddies and provide researchers with new and cost effective information about them.
