The impact of specific, general and governance characteristics of company on financial reporting (case of Iran)

There is no doubt that correct decision-making to investors in economic institutions and optimal allocation of scarce resources is requires transparent, sufficient and comparable financial and non-financial information. So, existence reliable financial information is one of the main tools of economic development of any country and the economic decision-making require information generally resulting from accounting system. This paper has designed based on connection between financial reporting and specific, general and governance characteristics of companies in Iran. The disclosure is measured by a reporting index with 155 financial items. Based on a sample of 96 listed companies, this study states that the FRI is significantly and positively related to company size, industry type, firm age and block-holder ownership but type of auditor and managerial ownership has no affect on financial reporting index (FRI).
