Geographical image classification and retrieval

’ The goal of geographical image classification is to. categorize images based on land cover classes. The current &&&ic~ image classification methods, usually use only the pixel-by-pixel spectral informatron. We can utilize the spatial relationship of image pixels with their surrounding pixels to improve classification. In this pauer. we exolain the texture features that can be exk&ed from geographical images. Also, we will describe our content-based classification and retrieval methods for large geographical image database systems. The experimental results of our approach are presented.
