International test commission

The International Test Commission (ITC) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to active promotion of coherent assessment and testing practices around the world. The idea of establishing an international organization that contributes to the improvement of testing practices worldwide was first raised by Professor Jean Cardinet in Switzerland in the late 1960s. Through correspondence with national societies and meetings among interested individuals during international conferences, his initial idea for an organization began to take shape. The International Test Commission was established in 1974 at a general meeting held during the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP) meeting in Montreal (Oakland, Poortinga, Schlegel, & Hambleton, 2001).
