Ridge horn has been utilized in antenna test ranges for different measurement applications for many years. According to the characteristic of horn antenna, many methods can be used to realize wideband characteristics for horn antenna, among which the most useful method is to plus ridge inside the horn. Ridge structure can be introduced to reduce the main mode cutoff frequency of the low-frequency side as long as to broaden the bandwidth of single mode operation. Previous ridge horn antenna was only concerned with how to expand the bandwidth of VSWR and did not make the study of how to lower the characteristic of the VSWR. Some innovative structure have been proposed and studied in the article to improve the ridge horn antenna performance.
