Mixed-Use Development: A Call for Research

Planned mixed-use developments have been growing in popularity in recent decades, first as urban redevelopment schemes and now as suburban development hubs. Despite being touted as more environmentally friendly and financially successful than single-use properties, published theoretically-based empirical research on the topic is extremely limited. This review examines what is known and claimed about mixed-use development while providing a call for more research on this increasingly popular real estate product.
