Event-driven wireless temperature sensor networks powered by air-flow based nanogenerator

We have reported a prototype of wireless sensor node with ultra-low power consumption which has promising application on the temperature monitoring in central air conditioning system. Air-flow driven nanogenerators are utilized to harvest electric energy directly from the wind tunnel in a building. Using a microcontroller unit with event-driven strategy, the wireless sensor nodes can send out a temperature signal every 14 seconds at a flow rate of about 18 m/s. With a Raspberry Pi, the wireless signal can be received and delivered to the internet and therefore, can be monitored easily from any portable terminal with internet-access.
