Games and Web 2.0: A Winning Combination for Millennials

Gaming and social networking define the millennial student. This research focuses on an evolving collaboration between 2 faculty members of different disciplines who merged Web 2.0 and game scenarios to infuse research techniques as integral components of math/computer science courses. Blogs and wikis facilitated student-faculty interaction beyond the traditional classroom while games provided the interest and incentive students needed to improve their research skills and knowledge of the subject matter. Results include game design, student work and responses, and adaptation of one game scenario into Second Life.
