Yet Another Virtual Butler to Bridge the Gap Between Users and Ambient Assisted Living

Ambient Intelligence promises to transform current spaces into electronic environments that will be responsive, assistive and sensitive to human presence and where all happens beyond user perception. Current computing interfaces, such as keyboards, mice, etc. will be removed at all or replaced by human ways of interaction like voice, gesture, emotions, etc. In order to materialize this new way of interaction between computing and people, we proposed a virtual butler able to make the link between ambient intelligence in general or smart spaces in particular and people. In fact, this is our second attempt to achieve that. Although tailored for smart homes, this virtual butler could be applied to other types of smart spaces and environments, such as shopping malls, airports, industry, etc. The developed virtual butler is able to interact with users by voice and it is sensitive to user location (and other context information).
