The virtual company

With the increasing commuting problems that everyone experiences across the country, having an office at home is more and more attractive. As the enabling telecommunications and computer systems continue to develop this need no longer be the domain of the privileged few, but can be considered by all companies for some or all of their workforce. This article considers the issues involved in setting up a 'virtual company', or simply allowing some staff to telework. The author discusses personnel issues, legislation, environmental considerations, information technology, security, and data security/confidentiality.
