A STUDY ON THE CORRECTION OF POSITIONING ACCURACY OF CAR NAVIGATION SYSTEM AND MAP-MATCHING ALGORITHM

Vehicles equipped with GPS receiver must be able to reconcile the location with the underlying map. This process is known as map matching. Most existing research has focused on map matching when both the vehicle's location and the digital map are known with a high degree of accuracy. However, there should be concern over the degree of errors generated by digital map and the relationship between the geometry of road network in Korea and the accuracy of map matching. Hence, this paper considers the cause of various errors like datum, projection, local coordinate system and the map matching algorithm using fuzzy logic that can be used to reconcile inaccurate locational data with an inaccurate digital map.
