The Study of Buckling Phenomena by Photoelastic-coating Method

The photoelastic coating method is used for the buckling analysis of the hinged-end EULER column. The coatings are bonded to both surfaces of the column, providing a new means of determining bendstrain and membrane strain components. Strain distributions and buckling load are determined directly from photoelastic data, and, estimating the reinforcing effect of the photoelastic coating, are related to the values that are observed if the column is not coated. The validity of photoelastic-coating method in the analysis of the buckling Problems is verified.
