VEHICLE CRASHWORTHINESS AND OCCUPANT PROTECTION IN FRONTAL COLLISIONS. INJURY RELATED PARAMETERS AND CRASH SEVERITY IN FRONTAL IMPACT BARRIER TESTS. SAE INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS AND EXPOSITION, FEBRUARY 26-MARCH 2, 1990, DETROIT, MICHIGAN

INRETS has performed in its Crash and Biomechanics Research Laboratory (LCB) a series of frontal impact barrier tests with modern passenger cars under different test conditions. Three tests are made with each selected model: (1) decelerations are recorded in different points for crashworthiness analysis, (2) two fully instrumented Part 572 dummies are installed in the front seats and are restrained using the vehicle belts, and (3) it is proposed to correlate the values of protection criteria with the parameters defining the test conditions and those characterizing the car behavior during the crash test.
