Intelligent Electronic Devices Modeling and Performance Simulation of Substation Based on IEC 61850 Standard

For studying rapid message transmission of substation automation system,this paper takes OPNET software to construct model for intelligent electronic devices and set up simple SAS based on IEC 61850 standard.On the basis of it,it carries out simulating experiments for 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps local area networks,bus topology and star topology,analyzes differences of rapid message transmission delay time under with different speed rate of local area networks and topology.Simulating results indicate that the bus topology is suitable for SAS of small size and low sampling frequency of P1 and P2 type but when wire speed is low the sampling frequency may affect system performance;the star topology can provide better network performance and increase of IED numbers only affect network performance small.
